Jazz Hands and a Baby

It’s been a long while since I wrote my last post. Truth is I’ve been somewhat distracted by other things and crafting hasn’t featured all that much. But I’m back and, hopefully, very soon I’ll have some new projects to share with you.

So…what have I been up to?

Back in June, I volunteered to help with the production of the musical Parade – a fantastic show, which made me cry the first time I ever saw it. Actually, despite the title of this post, not a show swimming in jazz hands. It’s really very serious. Click on the link and have a read and you’ll see what I mean!! Anyway, with my love of crafting and in particular dressmaking, I thought I could be useful in the costume department. Also my husband performs with the amateur society, The Cygnet Players, who were putting it on and it seemed like a good way for our two interests to combine! Anyway, suffice to say I ended up coordinating all the costumes though this involved less dressmaking and more alterations and mending! I plan on writing a bit more about this and putting up some photos in due course as the process of putting together sets of costumes and planning how it would look was quite fun.

This little adventure was not exactly stress free however, not least because part way through the rehearsal period I discovered I was pregnant and the nausea and tiredness kicked in. But the show was a great success and I survived and all is well.

But yes…I’m pregnant! Which is the other thing that has been keeping me from my crafting table! I can’t say as I enjoyed the first few months very much – all that feeling sick and totally exhausted. But now at 16 weeks, things have started to get better and I’m starting to get excited about all the lovely baby things I can make! I got out all my fabrics yesterday and spent ages planning and pattern matching! I cleared out my sewing box, organised all my patterns and started cutting some fabric! So….watch this space for new creations, which will be for my own little one this time!

That’s all for now, folks! More soon!
